5 day course
Award in the Initial Verification and Periodic Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations
Formerly known as City & Guilds 2394/5, this 5-day course is a combination of the 2391-50 and 2391-51 training courses and will allow candidates to complete both qualifications without attending the centre on separate occasions.
This qualification helps you to develop the knowledge and practical skills required to professionally carry out inspection and testing on electrical installations. The course covers appropriate legislation, inspection and testing techniques, completing and issuing certificates or reports and understanding of results and measurements.
Assessment methods during the 2391-52 course include a short-written examination, an open book online multi-choice exam consisting of 60 questions and a practical assessment on a simulated installation and visual inspection.
The practical assessment will take place shortly after the 5-day course on a different date. Date options will be given and confirmed by the tutor during the course.
Please note that you must bring photographic ID such as passport or driving license with you in order to sit the assessment on this course.

Who should take this course?
This is an advanced course which is intended for experienced electricians practising inspection and testing who may have never gained formal Inspection and Testing qualifications, or for those who want to update and reaffirm their skills.
Please be aware this is an intense course with limited practical tuition. We would not recommend it for beginners, but rather for those who already know the fundamentals of inspection and testing and are looking to further their skills.
Although there are no formal pre-requisites, we advise that you have a good understanding of the latest IET BS7671 Wiring Regulations and have passed the City & Guilds 2382-22 (18th Edition) course, and have a minimum of 6 months testing experience.
Important Information
Please note, you will only receive your City & Guilds certificate on successful completion of all examinations. On completion of the practical assessment, the tutor will recommend a pass or fail. This will then need to be reviewed and marked by an internal verifier before being claimed with City and Guilds.
