2 day course
Recognised Practitioners Programme (Ex01RPP – Ex04RPP)
Due to the practical elements of this course and the specialist equipment required, it is delivered at our Rotherham training centre only.
CompEx is the national training and assessment scheme for electro technical crafts personnel who work in potentially explosive atmospheres, such as on and off-shore Oil and Gas Pharmaceuticals, Energy and Chemical industries.
The CompEx Recognised Practitioners Programme (RRP) replaces the previous CompEx Refresher module. It is a recertification course that has been developed for experienced electrical and instrument technicians who hold the CompEx Ex01 – Ex04 qualification now due for renewal.
This 2-day course consists of four units, which cover the minimum requirements for safe working practices in hazardous areas. Candidates will cover the safety considerations required to work in areas that contain potentially explosive or flammable atmospheres, in addition to the factors that are used to classify their location.
The course refreshes and updates candidate knowledge on how to read hazardous area certification, labelling and documentation, and the main protection concepts, categories and levels that are applied to certified Ex electrical equipment.
At the end of the course, delegates will be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills to meet the requirements highlighted in the IEC 60079 series of standards and the relevant national standards and directives.
Who should take this course?
This course is intended for previous holders of the CompEx Ex01 – Ex04 qualification, whose certification is due for renewal. It is a CompEx requirement to recertify every 5 years.
CompEx certified practitioners should consider their knowledge, skills and recent experience to determine whether to complete the RRP 2 day course, or sit the full 5 day Gas and Vapours course again.
We recommend that delegates allow at least 6 months before their CompEx expiry date when refreshing their qualification to allow sufficient time for any required resits. Please note, it can take 6 – 8 weeks for examination results to be returned to us.
Please note, failure to refresh before the expiry date will result in having to take the full qualification (Ex01 – Ex04) assessment again.
